Snow has hit the Pacific Northwest in a completely unexpected way. Our winter has been mild, and we had conceded to the idea that icy morning were soon going to be a thing of the past.
Then the snow came… and it snowed some more… and oh guess what?
A WHOLE LOT more!
And I love it. Absolutely love it! But with the unexpected amount of snow most likely we will have a low key valentines at home. And it will be perfect in every way.
One of the obstacles with valentines decor, at least for me, is that everything is the same color and almost everything says love. Don’t get me wrong. I actually really like valentines decor and enjoy the holiday immensely. But I only need the word love written on so many things, ya know?
So I thought I would show you a simple yet farmhouse chic tablescape for valentines using buffalo check.
Wait. You put away your buffalo checks after Christmas? Honey, they are a year round staple in a farmhouse chic home! Go dig ’em on out and keep them handy.
My darling daughter helped to style this shoot and helped bake the yummy cookies as well.
Aren’t those tealite holders shaped like logs too sweet?
A cut log round is the perfect way to add height and rustic charm to a centerpiece.
Glittery flowers add a personal touch to the plate.
What snow day would be complete without freshly baked cookies.
This table setting would work for any meal….. but in the interest of being totally real here’s what happened that day.
I had set the table with homemade minestrone soup and blue cheese crumble salad in mind. But the reality is that the snow was calling our name and we hit the slopes (our driveway) and went sledding and had an epic snowball fight instead. No fancy meal. Soup from a can and crackers instead.
But the table was all gussied up and the time together was rich with laughter and joy.
And at the end of the day, isn’t that why we tablescape in the first place?
